The Mission House of Sikhi
Nursing Home for Disadvantaged People
The Mission House of Sikhi
Design Architect: Quy Do
This nursing home provides free accommodations to 60 elderly and disadvantaged people in the District of Monaragala of Sri Lanka. The beds are distributed equally between men and women: 30 for women in the left wing and 30 for men in the right wing. Among the men's beds, 12 are reserved for old monks.
Natural ventilation is provided by louvers and vents installed throughout the building, tall ceilings, and a green courtyard at the rear of the building.
Water fountains at the front of the building and in the courtyard create a cooling effect on the environment.
Trees surrounding the building and inside the courtyard also help shade the property from the intense heat of the area.
